70 years ago today (July 7), this was first played on the radio by Dewey Philips in Memphis, Tennessee. Sure has aged well! Thanks, Elvis, wherever you are.

May 8 -9th?, 1945, at 5 yrs old at Time Square, the PA system played this song by the miniature Statue of Liberty that was displayed during the bond drive. It remained in my memory all these years. Circa 2017 I found an original copy of his Division's year book at a yard sale. It had photos of him in his BDUs. There was another song that was paired with it on Times Square, "There's a Star Spangled Banner Waiving Some Where." That also stuck in my memory. My memory recalls that both songs had a CW beat when it was played in 45'. I was drafted in Jan 62, I don't recall hearing this version at the time. We had "Soldier Boy" on the juke box.
